University-Industry Collaboration to Build a Joint Technology Innovation Alliance – Suzhou University of Science and Technology Niumag Visit

Published on: 2025-01-22 17:30

On January 15, President Gu Juping of Suzhou University of Science and Technology, along with his team, visited New Mai Analytical for a tour and research. They were accompanied by Yang Peiqiang, Chairman of New Mai Analytical, and Professor Yan Jun, Director of the Postdoctoral Research Station at New Mai Analytical.

During the visit to New Mai’s exhibition hall, President Gu and his team gained an in-depth understanding of the development history of New Mai Analytical. Starting from the initial nuclear magnetic resonance prototype developed at East China Normal University, New Mai has made numerous innovative breakthroughs in low-field magnetic resonance technology, applications, and products, achieving significant market expansion and numerous successful collaborations with users.

When President Gu visited the plaque of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Technology Innovation Consortium co-established with PetroChina Logging Co., Ltd. (CPL), he learned in detail about the progress of their collaboration in magnetic resonance technology research and industry applications. Chairman Yang Peiqiang introduced that New Mai Analytical and CPL have fully leveraged their respective advantages to jointly develop several important results, including the core equipment of the MLab vehicle-mounted rock physics laboratory—a mobile full-diameter two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance measurement instrument. This device can quickly and continuously measure fresh full-diameter cores at well sites, significantly improving the efficiency of petroleum and natural gas exploration and development. In addition, New Mai Analytical has applied continuous measurement technology in the research and production of the low-field nuclear magnetic resonance fiberglass oil content automatic detection instrument, creating unmanned, continuous, automatic detection instruments centered on nuclear magnetic resonance technology. This innovative equipment effectively solves the issues of low efficiency and high energy consumption in traditional industrial production, meeting the modern industrial demands for rapid detection, safety assurance, cost reduction, and environmental protection, and has been successfully applied in China National Glass Holdings Limited.

Chairman Yang Peiqiang also mentioned that New Mai Analytical has established close cooperative relationships with many enterprises and institutions, co-building nuclear magnetic resonance joint laboratories. For example, New Mai Analytical and the National Engineering Research Center for Gas Hydrate Exploration and Development co-established the “Natural Gas Hydrate and Carbon Sequestration Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Technology Demonstration Base” to promote the deep application of nuclear magnetic resonance technology in relevant fields.

President Gu highly recognized New Mai Analytical’s role in advancing the deep application and development of nuclear magnetic resonance technology in well logging through the co-construction of science and technology innovation consortia. He expressed that this model effectively promotes technological innovation and industrial upgrading.

While focusing on the domestic market, New Mai Analytical is actively expanding its overseas market. In 2015, New Mai’s products successfully entered the Massachusetts General Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, officially opening the door to the U.S. market. Since then, its low-field nuclear magnetic resonance high-temperature high-pressure systems have been installed and put into use in several countries, including the United States, Austria, and Canada.

President Gu Juping of Suzhou University of Science and Technology highly recognized New Mai Analytical’s leading position in the field of low-field nuclear magnetic resonance. President Gu pointed out that under the strong guidance of national policies, Suzhou University of Science and Technology eagerly looks forward to working with New Mai to start a new journey of university-enterprise cooperation, combining the university’s advantages in disciplines to co-build an innovation consortium and cultivate outstanding talents together. As an industry pioneer, New Mai Analytical always adheres to its original intention, fully promoting technological innovation and industry development in the low-field nuclear magnetic resonance field, actively providing platforms for practical application for university research teams, and effectively facilitating in-depth scientific research and academic exchanges. This exchange was of great significance, laying a solid foundation for future deep cooperation and opening a new chapter of collaboration and progress.
