Liebagou Primary School is located deep in the mountains, with six grades of primary education and one kindergarten class. The area is underdeveloped, with many parents working away from home and children mainly cared for by grandparents. Parents often underestimate the value of extracurricular reading, believing textbooks alone are sufficient. As a result, most children do not have access to books beyond their schoolwork. The school library is their only source of reading, but due to declining rural enrolment and limited funding, the collection has not been updated for many years, leaving students with very few choices.

We were delighted to see an enthusiastic response when the initiative was announced. Niumag employees actively donated books from home — from engaging fairy tales and vivid storybooks to easy-to-understand educational titles — each one a gift of knowledge and imagination.

Beyond offline donations, Niumag also launched an online initiative. By contributing through the “2-Yuan Books” programme, everyone has the chance to take part in this meaningful cause.

This campaign is entirely charitable. The symbolic fee of 2 yuan is in honour of Niumag’s 20th anniversary, and the actual value of each book far exceeds this amount. Once you place an order, Niumag will purchase authentic, licensed editions online and donate them directly to the children at Liebagou Primary School.

Your personal messages will also be transcribed onto bookmarks and placed inside the books, allowing every child who receives them to feel the warmth and kindness shared through this initiative.
