Warm Congratulations to Niumag Analytical on the Successful Opening Report of the Second Batch of Postdoctoral Researchers at the Postdoctoral Innovation and Practice Base!

On December 21, 2016, Shanghai University and Suzhou Newmai Analytical Instruments Co., Ltd. jointly held the postdoctoral project proposal presentations for Dr. Yuan Fang and Dr. Hua Shuai. Attending the event were Professor Di Qinfeng from the Shanghai University Institute of Mechanics, Professor Liu Shulin, their team of doctoral supervisors including Gu Chunyuan and Wang Wenchang, Director Dong Liang from the High-Tech Zone Talent Development Office, Newmai Chairman and CEO Yang Peiqiang, Vice President Zou Pingsong, Newmai Postdoctoral Research Station Director Professor Yan Jun, Head of Newmai Scientific Management Tang Dongmei, and postdoctoral researchers Dr. Wu Fei and Dr. Chen Huijuan.

Dr. Yuan Fang, who graduated from the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2016, presented his research on “Characterisation of Organic and Inorganic Pore Distribution in Shale Using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Technology”. During the presentation, he discussed the current challenges in this field, outlined his project plan, and explained the expected objectives. Dr. Yuan also provided detailed responses to all questions raised by the attending experts.

Dr. Hua Shuai, a 2016 graduate from the Institute of Mechanics at Shanghai University, presented his project on “Research and Application of NMR Visualization Methods for Fluid Flow in Porous Media”. He elaborated on using NMR imaging techniques to visualise fluid distribution within core samples and provided detailed plans for investigating displacement mechanisms at the microscopic level. Dr. Hua also addressed all questions posed by the experts thoroughly.

The presentations by Dr. Yuan Fang and Dr. Hua Shuai showcased their innovative thinking and practical problem-solving skills. The expert panel provided individual assessments and unanimously approved their postdoctoral projects. The experts also emphasised that, as postdoctoral researchers jointly recruited by an enterprise and a university, it is essential for them to integrate theoretical knowledge with Newmai’s NMR products and applications, ultimately translating research into practical technological outcomes.

The Suzhou Newmai Analytical Instruments Co., Ltd. Postdoctoral Innovation and Practice Base has developed rapidly. The first postdoctoral researcher, Dr. Wu Fei, joined in October 2015, and in June 2016, Professor Yan Jun joined Newmai as an external expert and assumed the role of Director and mentor of the enterprise postdoctoral research station. To date, four postdoctoral researchers from China University of Petroleum, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Shanghai University are currently working at the station. The team primarily focuses on research and applications related to petroleum and natural gas exploration and development, with NMR technology as the core. As the team continues to grow, it is expected to inject fresh talent and energy into Newmai’s innovation capacity. We also look forward to Dr. Yuan Fang and Dr. Hua Shuai carrying forward the “Niù Mǎ Gē” spirit within the Newmai family—innovation, vitality, resilience, and responsibility.
