Postdoctoral work in Suzhou High-Tech Zone has reached a new milestone. Recently, with approval from the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, four new sub-stations were added under the Suzhou Science and Technology City Postdoctoral Regional Station: Suzhou Newmai Analytical Instruments Co., Ltd., Suzhou Weimu Intelligent Systems Co., Ltd., Yicheng (Suzhou) Electronics Technology Co., Ltd., and Jiangsu GoodWe Power Technology Co., Ltd. Additionally, a new sub-station was added under the Entrepreneurship Centre Postdoctoral Regional Station: Suzhou Chaorui Microelectronics Co., Ltd. This expansion sets a provincial record for the number of sub-stations in a single district, with 20 new sub-stations added across the province. To date, the High-Tech Zone has cumulatively been approved for 22 provincial-level postdoctoral research stations.
These newly approved enterprises span emerging industries including analytical and testing instruments, new energy, electronics and information technology, the Internet of Things, and medical devices. Among them, Suzhou Newmai Analytical Instruments Co., Ltd. is a high-tech enterprise specialising in low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) imaging analysis instruments. Founded in 2003, the company focuses on the development and application of low-field NMR technology. With robust R&D capabilities, comprehensive production, service, and operational management systems, Newmai has earned recognition as a national high-tech enterprise. The company independently develops multiple NMR analytical instruments, has received numerous national awards and certifications, and its products are widely applied in agriculture and food, energy exploration, polymer materials, the textile industry, and life sciences, earning broad industry acclaim. Through continuous technology and application development and years of market operations, Newmai has rapidly emerged as a dynamic and promising enterprise in the emerging low-field NMR instrument sector.

Since 2014, the High-Tech Zone has been actively advancing postdoctoral initiatives, marking its fifteenth year of operation. The zone has consistently viewed postdoctoral talent as a critical resource for regional transformation and upgrading. Enterprise postdoctoral research stations have played a pivotal role in this strategy, serving as engines for economic development. This year alone, 13 new postdoctoral researchers have joined the zone—exceeding the total number recruited in previous years and effectively eliminating vacancies. Among the newly graduated postdoctoral researchers, six have completed their tenure, with four choosing to remain in the High-Tech Zone to contribute to innovation and entrepreneurship, significantly supporting regional economic transformation and enterprise talent development. Over the past 15 years, postdoctoral researchers in the stations have collectively published over 30 high-level papers, filed more than 50 domestic and international patents, and generated direct economic benefits exceeding 1 billion RMB.
It is reported that in 2012, the High-Tech Zone implemented the “Suzhou High-Tech Zone Enterprise Postdoctoral Research Station Funding Measures (Trial)”. Under this policy, postdoctoral researchers joining the stations receive a total of 60,000 RMB in living and working expenses during their contract period. Those awarded municipal or higher-level postdoctoral research project funding receive matched project support on a 1:1 basis. Postdoctoral researchers receiving national, provincial, or municipal science and technology awards are granted equivalent incentive funding, also at a 1:1 ratio. Researchers who remain in the High-Tech Zone after completing their postdoctoral tenure receive a total salary subsidy of 100,000 RMB. Eligible researchers are given priority in applying for provincial enterprise postdoctoral programs and municipal priority talent initiatives in critical industries. Within the first two years of the policy, 13 postdoctoral researchers have received nearly one million RMB in cumulative funding support.
