Magnetic Resonance Webinar on September 20 — 5 Talks in One Go!

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is often perceived as complex, abstract, and difficult to grasp. Compounding this is the fact that its many application areas — such as life sciences, petroleum exploration, imaging, and teaching — have limited cross-communication. As a result, many users report only a partial understanding of low-field NMR technology.

In response, Niumag has invited five leading professors and experts from diverse fields to host a special online webinar series. These public lectures — hosted on the Instrument.com.cn webinar platform — focus on the applications and future potential of low-field NMR, linking each speaker’s research expertise to real-world use cases. Topics span from core principles to novel applications, providing both depth and practicality. The goal: to better serve researchers by helping them understand how low-field NMR can directly enhance their work.

Prof. Yao Yefeng – East China Normal University

Professor in the Department of Physics, ECNU. Since 2013, he has published 49 SCI papers, including 26 in journals with impact factors above 5. Invited by the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK) to write a book chapter on NMR in polymers. Regular speaker at IUPAC’s Global Polymer Conference (Macro2018). Former Secretary General and Scientific Committee member of the International Magnetic Resonance Society. Recipient of the prestigious Wang Tianjuan Spectroscopy Award (2014) for contributions in solid-state NMR.

Topic: Low-Field NMR Study on Entangled and Cross-Linked Structures in Polymers

Prof. Tan Mingqian – Dalian Polytechnic University

Professor at the School of Food Science; PhD advisor; Deputy Director of the Marine Food Engineering Research Center (Ministry of Education); academic leader in “Food Quality Control” at the National Engineering Research Center for Marine Foods; group leader of Food Quality Control Research; Committee Member of the Magnetic Resonance Instrument Committee, CAIA. Published over 90 SCI papers, including 55 as first author in JACS, JAFC, Food & Function, etc., with 1529 citations and H-index 20 (Google Scholar). Expert reviewer for National Science Foundation of China, and final evaluator for the “13th Five-Year Plan” Key National R&D Program.

Topic: Moisture State Analysis and Its Role in Food Processing & Storage

Dr. Wu Fei – Petroleum Energy R&D Engineer, Niumag

Ph.D. in Geological Resources & Engineering from China University of Petroleum (East China); Senior Engineer at Niumag’s Advanced Research Division; Jiangsu Province “Double Innovation PhD” talent. Participated in multiple national-level projects under China’s “12th Five-Year Plan.” Published 7 SCI papers and holds 7 invention patents.

Topic: Applications of LF-NMR in Oil & Gas Exploration and Production

Mr. Yang Yi – Manager, Advanced Research Division, Niumag

M.S. in Polymer Materials from Donghua University. Developed novel low-field NMR applications, including hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity monitoring, real-time analysis of elastomer curing, and body composition analysis in conscious small animals. Holds 4 patents and has published 4 magnetic resonance-related papers.

Topic: Introduction to the Principles of NMR Analysis and Imaging

Ms. Wang Danli – Technical Support Engineer, Niumag

M.S. in Bioinorganic Chemistry from Shanghai Normal University. Specialized in fast field-cycling (FFC) NMR systems and their application in polymer and life sciences.

Topic: FFC-NMR Applications in Polymer and Life Sciences
