Knowledge Competition to Identify True Talent, Showcasing Skills with Joy and Elegance

On August 24th, 2019, the 2nd Annual Numag Analysis Skills Contest kicked off once again! This year’s theme for the contest was “Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Technology Knowledge Competition.” The competition focused on NMR professional skills and academic theory, offering a cultural feast that exemplifies Numag’s “Compete, Learn, Strive, and Surpass” learning culture.

Even before the contest began, anticipation was already sky-high. Over the past three months of organizing, the entire Numag team had been eagerly looking forward to the event. As the competition drew nearer, the atmosphere in Numag became filled with the fierce energy of “competing like dragons and tigers, with knowledge contests to decide the heroes.”

On the day of the contest, the atmosphere was palpable. Before the competition started, the organization was busy but orderly, and the participants were eagerly preparing. The entire audience of Numag team members were excited and filled with joy.

In order to make the competition professional and showcase high standards, the organizing committee meticulously planned and organized the event. They selected technical experts to form teams for question preparation, scoring, and ensuring fairness. Four competition units were established: “Spot the Errors in the Question Bank,” “Individual Contest,” “Team Contest,” and “Score King.” Additionally, dedicated staff members were assigned for technical support, data statistics, and on-site supervision to ensure that the questions were professional, technical, engaging, and fair. The question bank was refined several times with broad involvement from the Numag team, and the “Spot the Errors” segment encouraged everyone to participate. Many technical experts took on the role of “Master Wukong,” ensuring the accuracy and quality of the questions, and ultimately creating the NMR technology knowledge question bank. To acknowledge their contributions, special “Fiery Eyes” and “Hundred Knowledge” awards were created for the top contributors to the question bank before the competition even began.

On the morning of August 24th, the Individual Contest officially kicked off, with contestants filling the venue. The atmosphere was intensely tense, and the silent tension filled the entire room. The individual competition was set to award personal prizes, and the points from this segment played a crucial role in determining who would win the coveted “Score King” title based on overall performance. In the examination room, participants were fully focused and displayed various attitudes. Some appeared relaxed, as if strategizing ahead, while others seemed serious, appearing somewhat confident. Yet, it was rare to see anyone discouraged or uninterested, showing that preparations before the competition were highly effective. Many teams consisted of seasoned experts, who had not only built strong expertise over time but had also gone through multiple rounds of preparations and simulations ahead of the competition! The energy and enthusiasm were unprecedented.

As the afternoon arrived, the Team Contest took center stage, pushing the competition atmosphere to a whole new level! The executive and management teams, along with employees from various departments, gathered for the opening ceremony. Chairman Yang Peiqiang gave the opening speech, inspiring everyone to reflect on the deeper meaning behind the knowledge contest. He emphasized that while the competition aimed to test professional skills and expand knowledge, its greater purpose was to foster teamwork, strengthen self-confidence, and reinforce the core spirit of Numag as a learning organization. “Professionalism has no limits, and knowledge is infinite. As Numag continues to grow, our knowledge structure improves, and we expand our expertise. But that’s still not enough. To achieve Numag’s dreams, I hope every Numag member stays focused on their job, works hard to improve their skills, and strives to advance further. At the same time, I hope all participants showcase their expertise and bring their best to the competition.”

Chairman Yang’s speech set the stage for the competition! Soon after, 16 teams with 48 contestants entered the spotlight. Their team names, slogans, and energetic atmosphere reflected their unique values and flair, highlighting the Numag team’s drive and determination.

Under the enthusiastic guidance of the host, Liu from the scoring team read out the competition award categories, while Jiang from the question group presented the competition format and question settings. The rules were then read aloud by Zhu from the scoring team. The moment of “showing off and competing in the arena” was finally here!

Introduction to the Contest and Committee Members’ On-Site Work

With each team ready, the competition began with high sensitivity buzzers that tested not only knowledge but also quick thinking and competition readiness. The match truly felt like an intense battle with teams competing fiercely, pushing the pace. Some teams reacted swiftly, while others, a bit too eager, made a few missteps. Strategies varied—some were calm and coordinated, while others scrambled. As the match progressed, the scorelines kept shifting, creating a tense atmosphere. The audience was equally captivated, cheering, encouraging, and enjoying the experience. The energy in the room was electrifying!

After intense competition, the winners emerged, and the award ceremony took place amid applause and celebration.

Team winner Cao Jun expressed emotionally: “As a newcomer at Numag, I’ve received tremendous support from my team, leaders, and colleagues. This victory wouldn’t have been possible without their help. The preparation was intense, and I’m incredibly grateful.”

Individual winner Zheng Huaen reflected: “The division of labor and expertise required in this field made a difference in winning. This is why interdisciplinary learning at Numag is so valuable.”

Score King Li Wenfu stated: “This achievement is thanks to our team’s cooperation, and our continuous effort in preparation. I’ve gained a lot from the competition and have deepened my understanding of certain topics. It also highlighted areas where I need to improve, and made me realize that professional learning truly has no limits. I’ll work even harder going forward!”

With joy, encouragement, and anticipation, Li Xianghong delivered the closing remarks for the 2nd Annual Numag Analysis Skills Contest (NMR Technology Knowledge Competition). She said: “Looking at this year’s contest, it’s clear that there has been significant progress in organizing, atmosphere, and presentation compared to last year. This is very exciting! We saw today that teams who coordinated well and were well-prepared performed better, which is just like our daily work. I hope our participants stay humble in victory and determined in defeat. For those who performed well, keep pushing forward; for those who lagged behind, reflect and strive to improve. We also hope our skills contest continues to evolve, engaging more Numag team members to learn, improve, and build platforms for communication, boosting morale and fostering growth.”
