Low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (LF-NMR) technology characterizes the soft and hard segment structures of materials efficiently and non-destructively by detecting the relaxation behavior of hydrogen protons within the material.

In both scientific research and industrial applications, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) has attracted considerable attention due to its outstanding properties and broad range of uses. Low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (LF-NMR) technology can be used to characterize the low-temperature resistance of PDMS by analyzing parameters such as transverse relaxation time (T2) and the temperature-dependent variations in the relative proportions of free and rigid polymer chain segments.

The research team proposed a solution strategy by introducing pendant chains into the polymer network, resulting in the fabrication of thermal interface materials (TIMs) with high thermal conductivity (4.50 W/m•K) and excellent flexibility (elongation at break of 104% and Young’s modulus of 0.24 MPa).
